There are very few issues I haven't seen so whatever your problem is, I can usually help other figure it out. Like I said I been doing this a stuff a long time for a living. You want accurate help you have to provide an accurate symptom. You'd be better off starting from scratch then trying to fix what's wrong with it.Īnyway, I do suggest you post the problem instead of simply talking about it on a video.

If you're using pirated software you can bet you are infected with viruses and trojans sucking the life out of the computer. Today you have to have a highly corrupted setup before audio begins to fail. I been recording since the late 90's and optimizing the computer to record digitally was ultra critical compared to what you have today. Still far better then the earlier DAW's/interfaces. Each computer is different so the final solution can wind up being unique but by optimizing you can typically take care of a good 90% of the common issues. The digital noise occurs when the latency is pushed to its limits and its on the verge of dropping out. Red is bad it means digital noise or dropouts On most computers I get a reading of 50 to 100ms in the green with no spikes in the red. You'll also want to check the load on the computers CPU. You can google up "Optimizing Computer for Audio" The Black Viper site is a good place to begin. I don't want that computer doing anything but what I tell it too and that's it. If I want to surf the net I have other computers for that. On my main DAW I removed antivirus and networking. You can take it a step farther and shut off hardware and software which are overtaxing the CPU. which is constantly changing on the C drive.

This way your main drive will run windows and the second drive will store wave files that don't get all fragmented by windows files internet cookies, personal files etc. If this is a desktop computer you definitely want to have a second hard drive and be recording your audio to that drive. That includes defragging drives, removing garbage programs, anything that's can suck resources and cause the data flow to be interrupted. The trick there is to optimize your computer for recording audio. Problem with that is if your computer isn't optimized you'll get that same digital noise as the CPU is being overworked by all kinds or bloatware and nonsensical services running in the background. The noise is caused by trying to make the audio run too fast and not reserving enough temp memory to store the streaming data until the CPU is ready to process it. The static appears to be erratic and can change day to day. If the distortion level changes with the input level then the problem is analog.ĭigital does not change or at least not by much when volume is changed.
